Hi folks, Jason Barber here with the weekly kingscreekadventures.com fishing report for Cedar Creek Lake. The water level is at 3.3 low and the water temps are creeping into the low 60's. The water is still stained to muddy going up the lake.
The crappie are surging into the shallows with fish being caught in as little as a foot of water. Jigs and minnows are good as always. Crappie can be caught under docks around rocks as well as in some deeper brushpiles. The bridges are holding good numbers of fish too, stay with the first few pillars from the shore for best results.
Largemouth can be caught in the back of the spawning coves as well, use spinners and soft plastics as well as topwaters and shallow cranks. Fish any visible cover in 1 to 5 ft. also pitch jigs and tx. rigged plastics to all the docks back in the coves.
Catfish are biting good in shallow water on the upper end of the lake. Fresh shad is a safe bet for bait but shrimp worms and minnows will catch fish too. For a bigger bite use live perch or goldfish or stay with bigger cut shad. fish from 1 to 10 ft. until you find where they are actively feeding.
The sandies and hybrids are shoiwing up on points and ridges on the north end of the lake since there are no running creeks for them to travel into. The most of them are staging on hard bottom areas near the creek areas. Try standard artificial baits that usually catch striped fish and if that doesn't work get you some fresh shad and you should see some action.
