Bass fishing tournament set for Cedar Creek Lake

Gun Barrel City will host a bass fishing tournament March 3-4 at Tom Finley Park.

Texas Tournament Zone will pay out $20,000 for the first place prize. Gun Barrel City will pay $5,000 from the city’s Hotel Motel Tax fund for promoting and sponsoring the event, and the prize money will come from anger entries.

TTZ officials say the tournaments host about 400 anglers per event, and that they hope the addition of the North Texas Trail that includes Cedar Creek Lake will grow the event larger.

Promotion of the event will include banners, radio advertisement, email campaigns and social media.

The event is expected to bring new lodging and food and beverage business to Gun Barrel City during the two-day event.

The 2017 schedule for TTZ tournaments includes lakes LBJ, Travis, Buchanan, Belton, Whitney, Cedar Creek, Texoma and Ray Roberts.
