The Gun Barrel City Council appointed Carol Calkins to serve out the seat left vacant recently by Curtis' Webster's resignation.
Webster resigned because of health problems. The seat will be on the ballot in May 2015.
Calkins is a 10-year full-time resident who has served on the Harbor Point Property Owners Association in the past. She is a retired partner of the tax accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Calkins said that she wanted to serve on the council because she is interested in the future of the community and that she might bring a different perspective to the body.
